Half-life

Project 52, week 26: Half. I’m half way into my Project 52! We quite accidentally selected this theme for our ‘half-way theme’. I had several idea’s of which this was the only one I could shoot indoors (and, incidentally was the only idea that required a lot of post-processing..). It’s the strangest picture I’ve ever made!

I originally wanted to make my skin translucent (letting the skull shine through the skin), but the piggy bank skull I have has a different shape than my own head. After a bit of experimenting I came up with this bearded half-life creation.

While I’m not totally happy with the lighting, it was a nice experiment, and the post-processing was.. challenging. 🙂

Setup:
Sigma EF-500 DG Super @1/2, 17mm, subject front left, into DIY beautydish
Canon EX580II @1/64, 25mm, subject back right, bare
Metz 48 AF-1 @128, 50mm, on-axis above camera
Sigma and Canon triggered with Cactus V5, Metz as optical slave.
