When I was in Bellagio (Lake Como, Italy) during my holiday last summer I found this lock attached to the fence along the boulevard. If my Italian is any good (which it isn’t) units per sempre translates into ‘united forever’ (or voor altijd samen in Dutch). I kind of like the symbolism there.
