Project 52, week 18: Vintage. This is my dad’s Kodak Duaflex camera, which he inherited from my grandfather. This Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) fixed-focus camera was built between 1947-1955 and uses square film. The viewfinder is on top, which feels really awkward if you’re used to modern (SLR) cameras (not least since the viewfinder image is mirrored). I used to play with it as a kid and am still intrigued by it, so it seems a fitting subject for this weeks theme!
Setup:
Sigma EF-500 DG Super @1/8, 17mm, camera top right, into DIY ‘beauty dish’ (silver umbrella with reflective ‘shield’ around flash gun)
Canon 580EXII @1/16, 28mm, camera left, through semi-transparent reflector
White reflector below subject left (for some added light on my ‘shutter hand’)
Both flashes triggered using Cactus V5s.
